Climate on the Ballot: Voters Want Candidates to Talk About Climate Change
New polling from the Environmental Voter Project finds that 59% of likely midterm voters across eight battleground states want politicians to talk more about climate change and pollution. In a conversation hosted by Covering Climate Now, Environmental Voter Project Founder and Executive Director Nathaniel Stinnett joins Matto Mildenberger, Associate Professor of Political Science at UC Santa Barbara and Director of The 2035 Initiative, and Kate Yoder, Senior Staff Writer at Grist, to discuss the new poll findings and what they mean for the 2026 midterm elections. Moderated by Kyle Pope, Covering Climate Now's Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives, the discussion explores key electoral races, particularly gubernatorial elections and what candidates and elected officials are and aren't saying about climate action.
